This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join a innovative and exciting school.

This special needs school provides education for approximately 85 pupils who have complex and severe learning needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan and they have a very wide range of abilities within their pupil population.

Each pupil’s needs are carefully and individually evaluated, so that within the context of their well-developed and profoundly personalised curriculum, all pupils can aspire to reach exceptional standards.

The school have excellent facilities including Hydro Therapy, Sensory Room, Soft Play Room, various therapies and a playground.

About the class: 

  • Class size of 11 students, across Year 10 and 11
  • All pupils have learning and cognition needs to varying degrees and are working towards their personalised curriculum rather than being assessed against the national curriculum.  
  • Diagnosees within the class include ASC, GDD, Down's Syndrome, and other syndromes associated with learning delays. Some of the students are non-verbal.
  • Up to 4 pupils may undertake Entry Level Functional Skills qualifications.

You will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner (ECT’s and mainstream teachers welcome but you must have QTS)
  • Be responsible for planning and delivering dynamic lessons
  • Aspire to provide learning opportunities for the full range of our pupil’s needs
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have oversight of a wide range of aspects of education including pastoral, preparation for adulthood and community based learning.

The role is to start ASAP and is to cover maternity leave.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
