SLD SEN Teacher – Primary Schools (Portsmouth)

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Position: Full-Time
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (paid to scale)
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with primary schools across Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SLD SEN Teacher for a full-time position, starting as soon as possible.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and highly differentiated lessons to primary-aged pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

  • Adapt teaching approaches to support pupils with complex learning needs and varying levels of communication

  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development in a nurturing environment

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff

  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience working with pupils with SLD or complex needs (desirable but not essential)

  • Strong understanding of inclusive and highly differentiated teaching strategies

  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills

  • A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach to teaching

Safeguarding Requirements:

  • An Enhanced Child Only DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
