Job description

A school in Burnley are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support the needs of students with PMLD, SLD & ASC on a small group and 1:1 basis.

The role will be 5 days per week.

Class sizes are small and there will usually be a Teacher, HLTA and other Teaching Assistants in the classroom, however, you will be expected to use your own initiative and work proactively.

You must have experience in supporting children / adults with GLD including MLD, PMLD, SLD and Autism.

Candidates with Team Teach or experience in PECS and / or Makaton and those with experience of the TEACCH approach are highly sought after.

Working hours will be 8:30am - 3:30pm, with a half an hour lunch.

The role will be until Easter initially and potentially longer for the right candidate. The school have been known to appoint candidates who get on particularly well on a permanent basis.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
