Job description

We are working with a warm and welcoming mainstream school in Harrow that is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a long-term, full-time position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You will be joining a vibrant and supportive team who are committed to nurturing the whole child and championing inclusive practice for every learner.


The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the school’s SENDCo to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of special educational needs – including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and mild to moderate learning needs.

You will:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support learning and behaviour

  • Differentiate resources to ensure accessibility for all pupils

  • Support pupils with their emotional regulation and social communication

  • Implement EHCP strategies and work closely with external professionals

  • Track progress and provide feedback to class teachers and parents

  • Help create an inclusive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✅ Previous experience working with children with SEN (school or alternative settings)
✅ A caring, patient, and proactive attitude
✅ Strong communication and teamwork skills
✅ An understanding of safeguarding and behaviour strategies
✅ A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3, or equivalent) – desirable but not essential
✅ Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion and high aspirations for all learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
