Job description

SEN Support Assistant – Bacup

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Support Assistant to join a welcoming one-form entry primary school in Bacup. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with special educational needs within a nurturing classroom environment.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: After May half term
  • Pay: £14.25 per hour
  • Hours:
    • Full time: 8:30am – 3:30pm (30-minute lunch break)
    • Part time: Hours to be discussed at interview

About the Role:
You will work closely alongside the class teacher and external agencies to support pupils with SEN, helping to implement tailored learning plans and next-step interventions. The role involves providing in-class support and helping pupils to engage positively with their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with SEN in the classroom
  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and outside professionals
  • Help deliver targeted interventions and support individual learning plans

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with behavioural or SEN needs (advisable)
  • A resilient, patient, and reliable approach
  • Consistency and commitment to supporting pupils’ progress
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
