SEN Teaching Assistant Role

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants/LSA's to work within a Special Educational Needs School in Wirral. We are looking for people that are flexible and can work on a day to day basis as well as people that would like full time, long term work

The School

Our client school a specialist provider of education which caters currently for children aged 11-19 years with varying SEN including: complex learning difficulties, communication and/or sensory needs, autism, ADHD and varying health conditions.

Responsibilities

*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life.

*To support and care for the child in their toileting needs.

*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals

*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.

*To support and de-escalate challenging behaviour

Requirements

Experience working with children and/or young people with complex learning disabilities and challenging behaviour is desirable. Additional training and experience such as Moving and Handling, Team-Teach, Peg feeding, PECS, Personal Care would be highly beneficial. These are not essential, the majority of staff at the school began with no experience, the most important trait requires is the right attitude and willingness.
