SEN Support Staff

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking an experienced support staff member to support children with Special Educational Needs within a mainstream school in the Chesterfield area to start in September 2020.

You will work with SEN students identified with ASC (autistic spectrum condition), children with mental health issues and children needing speech and language support, on both a 1:1 basis and with small groups and will contribute towards a purposeful learning environment by supporting classroom teachers in teaching and learning.

As some children may express challenging behaviour, we are looking for someone who can follow behaviour policies and additional training such as Team Teach may be beneficial for the role. The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with SEN and will have outstanding inter-personal skills... We have a leading CPD Academy to support staff members who wish to develop their skills further. 

The Role:

  • Offer 1:1 support both in and out of class.
  • You will need to take into account children's learning styles and what motivates them to stay engaged, using positive behaviour management.
  • Working in both KS1 And KS2
  • Helping teacher with various activities

The Ideal SEN Support:

  • SEN experience is crucial.
  • Have a good knowledge of behaviour management techniques, be patient and sensitive 
  • Strong ability to assist children with a wide range of learning abilities.
  • Full flexibility on travel and start times.
  • You will need to be patient and sensitive with the ability to encourage and motivate children as well as being able to work effectively in a team
  • Access to own car
