Based on a small village-like site just outside of Cambridge is a very specific and friendly education and care provider for individuals with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) including Hearing Impairments, Vision Impairments, Down syndrome and Autism.
The site caters for up to 16 at one time, including residential care. Pupils of the centre have tailored educational programmes to suit their learning styles and meet their areas for development such as Reading, Writing and Life Skills. The role of SEN Support Assistant involves the following:
- Personal Care
- Supporting and encouraging individuals to develop their fine, motor and life skills.
- Using wheelchairs and walking aids
- Communicating effectively by using British Sign Language, Makaton and PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System) and a variety of electronic communication aids.
Working hours are 9.15am until 4.15pm with both part-time and full-time positions available.
In partnership with the specialist provision, we are looking for individuals with:
- Previous personal care or SEN experience (personal or professional)
- GCSE's in Maths and English (Grade A-C) or equivalent
- Drive and passion to work with and support individuals with complex needs
- Own transport or a reliable lift to work
