⭐Become a Special Education Needs (SEN) Support Assistant in Cardiff!
Do you thrive in a role where every day brings something new? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with diverse and complex needs? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Teaching Personnel is looking for a committed SEN Support Assistant to work across a dynamic specialist SEN school in Cardiff, supporting pupils aged 3–19. This is a school where no two days are the same — and that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding!
Here, flexibility and resilience aren’t just helpful… they’re essential. You may move between different classrooms, age groups, and needs throughout the week, adapting your approach to ensure every learner receives the right support at the right moment. If you love a challenge and enjoy being part of a nurturing, forward-thinking team, you’ll fit right in!
What You’ll Do
• Offering personalised 1:1 and small-group support, tailored to each pupil’s individual needs
• Moving between classes and age groups with confidence and adaptability
• Using effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Assisting with personal care, mobility, and sensory regulation where required
• Encouraging emotional wellbeing, engagement, and independence
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to maintain a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- A calm, patient, and resilient mindset — essential in a school where routines and needs can change daily
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential but must be confident)
• Someone who thrives in a flexible, fast-paced SEN setting, adapting quickly to new challenges
• Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to safeguarding
✔️Requirements (or willingness to obtain at your own cost)
To demonstrate your commitment to working in education, you must either hold or be prepared to apply for the following:
- Must be 18 or over
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- At least two professional references covering 24 months of employment
Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
- Competitive daily pay
- Dedicated recruitment consultant support
- A wide range of free online courses and discounted CPD opportunities
- Access to both temporary and permanent roles across local partnership schools
