The head teacher of a special needs school in Wokingham is looking to recruit a sports coach/teaching assistant to work full time. The school has high numbers of pupils from challenging behaviours such as ADHD, ASC and SEMH. You will work closely with your colleagues to create action plans for students across the Key Stage 2-4, taking an active role in implementing a programme that positively encourages pupils to overcome barriers to learning, improve their skills and ultimately raise engagement and attainment in school.
The role:
- Supporting students with special needs or challenging behaviour
- Keeping the students on track with their work and engaged in their learning
- Coaching sports such as football and rugby to the students when they have their down time
- Being a behaviour support mentor for the children
The candidate:
- Experience working in schools is desirable but not essential
- Any experience working with children in a coaching setting is considered
- Minimum of core GCSE’s required
The position is to start after the Christmas break in January.
It is full time (Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:45pm)
Pay is GBP57 to GBP70 per day and there is potential to go on to a permanent position.
