SEN Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently working alongside a 'Good' Primary School in Croydon, who are on the lookout for an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for a part-time role to assist a pupil who has some learning difficulties difficulties to enjoy school, make good academic and social progress. This role will be to start in September 2018.

Our client school is a happy, highly successful two form entry community school with a large, attached nursery. It is situated in an attractive area, close to South Norwood and is easily accessible by road, tram or bus. The school received an outstanding inspection report when Ofsted last visited in June 2008, stating that the 'school provides an outstanding education for all of its pupils. Parents are exceptionally pleased with the school.' In November 2016, the school was placed 3rd nationally in a Sunday Times three year average measure of high pupil performance, a testament to the ongoing development and progression of pupil academic attainment.

The Role

- Provide personalised support with academic learning and social development in the classroom.

- Implement a learning plan for the child concerned that has been created through discussion with the class teacher and the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).

- Support the development of the child's speech and her general language skills.

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of:

- Knowledge and understanding of how young children learn.

- Some understanding of the importance of assessment in the learning process.

- Knowledge of issues relating to equal opportunities; multi-cultural education; personal and social education and special educational needs.

Teaching Personnel is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all children. In order to work through Teaching Personnel you must:

- Have a current DBS on the Update Service or be willing to get one (full assistance provided).

- Be able to provide 2 references covering 6 years.
