SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: Torquay & Surrounding Areas
Start Date: January 2026
Hours: Full-time / Part-time (School Hours)

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a positive difference in education? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive school setting from January 2026.

This role is ideal for someone with experience working with children or young people, or for individuals who bring relevant transferable skills from roles such as care, youth work, residential support, or community services. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support, both in and out of the classroom
  • Assist pupils with accessing learning activities and maintaining focus
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow individual support plans
  • Help create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people or relevant transferable skills (e.g. care, youth work, residential support)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and confident supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Works well as part of a team and takes initiative when needed
  • Is reliable, committed, and keen to develop within SEN education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
