Teaching Assistant required to support pupils with Autism (ASC) in an Accrington Primary School

Teaching Personnel are working with a popular school in school in Accrington and the SENCo has approached us seeking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to start with them as soon as possible. The position is full-time, long-term with a realistic possibility of it becoming permanent for the right candidate. The role requires the Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils aged between 5-11 with ASC both in the classroom and in the schools provision unit.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Experience supporting children on the Autistic Spectrum

- A strong understanding of ASC and other areas of SEN

- Classroom based experience at EYFS, KS1 or KS2

*Candidates with experience in Team Teach, PECS, and Makaton are highly sought after*

The school itself is a smaller than average, popular Primary school based in the heart of the little village of Clayton-Le-Moors, just outside of Accrington. The school was graded as 'Good' by Ofsted recently and it was commended for its support to the pupils with SEN and additional needs. IT is a one-form entry and in recent years has been amongst the higher performing school within the area. The Senior Leaders and SENCo are extremely supportive and the school was described by one parent as an asset to the community.
