An SEN School in the Burnley area are seeking an experienced SEN Teacher ASAP. The role will be on a full-time basis to cover the schools own recruitment process and will likely be from Sept - Dec. The role will consist of providing places for children who can't get a place directly in and SEN School as they are all full. It will be a mixed age class where the children in the first term will be working on individual targets in the morning taken from their EHCPs and the afternoons will be cross curricular with guidance and support from the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher.
The school has grown significantly in the last few years but remains a small school catering for pupils with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, which in particular affect their physical abilities, speech, language and communication. There are also a small number of pupils with moderate learning difficulties. Many pupils have additional health complications. In addition to learning difficulties, a significant minority have differing degrees of autism. Some pupils may also present challenging behaviours.
The proportion of pupils of minority ethnic heritage is well above average as is the proportion learning to speak English.
The school is co-located with a mainstream primary school, a nursery and children's centre and a sixth form college.
At present i am not aware as to which year group you will be teaching, however, it will likely be based in KS2.
You must hold QTS and have experience in an SEN School / Primary School to be considered.
