Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Do you want to make a real difference in a young person’s life? We are a welcoming and inclusive primary SEND school in Haywards Heath, currently seeking a dedicated Behavioural Buddy to join our team.

The Role:

As a Behavioural Buddy, you will provide vital 1:1 and small group support to our primary-aged boys with Autism, ADHD, and Learning Difficulties. Your focus will be on helping them develop positive behaviours, build social skills, and thrive within our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised behavioural support on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to implement individual behaviour plans
  • Encourage positive interactions and social development among pupils
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the wider team
  • Foster a nurturing, patient, and supportive environment

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, and/or Learning Difficulties
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and understand their individual needs
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to be part of a dedicated SEND team
  • Flexibility and resilience in managing challenging behaviours

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
