About the School

You'll be joining a lively, inclusive secondary school in Caerphilly that is committed to ensuring every student reaches their full potential. The staff team is supportive, collaborative, and passionate about creating an environment where all learners feel valued, understood, and empowered to succeed.

Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you'll help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can develop confidence, independence, and resilience.

You'll:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with additional learning needs

  • Adapt activities and explanations to meet individual learning styles and abilities

  • Support students with emotional regulation, communication, and social development

  • Encourage engagement, independence, and participation in lessons

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies

  • Promote a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where students feel supported and understood

  • Celebrate progress and achievements, helping every student reach their potential

  • Patient, empathetic, and genuinely committed to supporting young people

  • Calm under pressure and able to respond positively to challenging situations

  • An excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills

  • Flexible, proactive, and adaptable to the changing needs of students

  • Experienced in (or eager to gain experience in) SEN support, care work, youth work, coaching, or educational settings

  • Passionate about inclusion and making a meaningful difference in students' lives

  • DBS-checked (or happy to apply)

If you've supported individuals with additional needs, worked in care, volunteered with young people, or are considering a future career in education, psychology, or therapy, you already have many of the qualities we're looking for.

Why You'll Love It

  • Work in supportive schools across Caerphilly

  • Enjoy a fantastic work–life balance with weekdays only, term-time hours, and consistent schedules

  • Gain valuable experience and build career foundations in:

    • SEN Teaching

    • Educational Psychology

    • Speech and Language Therapy

    • Occupational Therapy

    • Behaviour and Pastoral Support

    • Youth and Community Work
