Job Title: Interventions Teaching Assistant

Sector: Secondary
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:00
Pay: Starting from £14.25 per hour
Start Date: 1st September 2026

About the Job:

Teaching Personnel are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join one of our partnership secondary schools based in Blackwood as an Interventions Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils through targeted intervention sessions, helping to raise attainment, build confidence, and remove barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to deliver focused support to pupils requiring additional academic, social, or emotional intervention. The school is looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures
• Deliver targeted intervention support to pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and improving engagement
• Work closely with teachers to identify learning needs and track pupil progress
• Create a positive and encouraging environment where pupils can thrive
• Adapt to situations as they arise, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and school staff

Job Requirements:

• Evidence of right to work in the UK
• Must possess an Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate
• Registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
• At least two professional references covering 24 months

Previous experience supporting pupils in an educational setting or delivering interventions is desirable; however, we also welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills, relevant personal experience, or a genuine passion for supporting young people and improving educational outcomes.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
