Youth Support Worker

Location: Caerphilly, CF81
Hours: Part-Time | Term Time Only | Monday-Friday | 08:30-15:15
Pay: £100 per day
Start Date: 7th of September 2026

Be the Person They Remember

Not every young person remembers the lesson.

They remember the adult who believed in them, challenged them, set boundaries, and showed them what they were capable of.

If you're the kind of person who naturally steps up, takes responsibility, and earns respect through consistency and presence, this could be the role you've been looking for.

Whether you've worked in sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, customer-facing leadership, the armed forces, or have experience leading teams in high-pressure environments, your ability to motivate and guide others could have a lasting impact in education.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Youth Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Caerphilly. You'll become part of a dedicated team committed to helping young people succeed both academically and personally.

No two days are the same. You'll need confidence, resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear expectations and structure.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to gain meaningful experience in education, explore a future career in teaching or pastoral support, or simply make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Youth Support Worker, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons with confidence and enthusiasm.

  • Create a calm, focused, and structured learning environment.

  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement and participation.

  • Support students who require additional guidance, encouragement, or behavioural support.

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals across the school.

  • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience, accountability, and teamwork.

  • Respond effectively to challenges and adapt to the needs of individual students.

Who We're Looking For

You do not need Qualified Teacher Status to succeed in this role.

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident communicators who can command a room with professionalism.

  • Natural leaders who earn trust and respect through consistency.

  • Calm under pressure and able to think on their feet.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and solution-focused.

  • Passionate about supporting and inspiring young people.

  • Experienced in sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, leadership roles, customer service, the military, or other transferable environments.

  • In possession of a DBS certificate, or willing to apply for one.

If you've coached a team, led people, managed difficult situations, or helped young people overcome challenges, you already have many of the skills needed to thrive in this position.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive daily rate of £120 per day.

  • Enjoy a genuine work-life balance with term-time only hours.

  • Join supportive schools with strong leadership and collaborative staff teams.

  • Gain valuable experience within secondary education.

  • Access ongoing professional development and specialist training.
