Job Title: SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (KS1)
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Term-time Only

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our KS1 team in Burnley. This role involves providing tailored, one-to-one support for a child with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they can access learning, thrive socially, and make consistent progress in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support for a KS1 pupil in line with their SEN plan.

  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning behaviours.

  • Build a trusting rapport with the child to create a safe and encouraging learning atmosphere.

  • Adapt communication methods to meet the pupil’s individual needs.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.

  • Monitor, record, and report on the child’s progress and well-being.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in a school setting.

  • Can demonstrate strong behaviour management skills.

  • Has excellent communication skills and can adapt their approach to suit different needs.

  • Is patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships quickly.

  • Is committed to supporting the holistic development of the child, both academically and socially.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant (desirable).

  • Understanding of SEN support strategies.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA qualification) are an advantage but not essential for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
