Job description

SEMH Tutor – Golborne (WA3)

We are seeking compassionate and resilient tutors to provide 1:1 support for pupils in Golborne (WA3) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of these learners may be out of mainstream school and require structured, engaging, and supportive tuition to help them progress both academically and personally.

The role will involve:

  • Delivering personalised 1:1 tuition in core subjects such as Maths and English

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs to build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem

  • Creating engaging sessions tailored to individual learning styles and emotional needs

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and re-engagement with education

  • Providing feedback on progress to parents, carers, or local authorities

We are looking for:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs

  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and/or English

  • A patient, calm, and adaptable approach

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

What we offer:

  • £25–£30 per hour (depending on experience)

  • Flexible weekday hours during the school day

  • Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella deductions

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
