1:1 SEMH Tutor – September Start
Help Pupils Re-Engage with Learning Through Positive Relationships
Do you have experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you skilled in using empathy and structure to guide learners who may have struggled in mainstream education?
TP Tutors is seeking SEMH tutors to work 1:1 with pupils across KS1–KS4, starting after the summer holidays. Many of these young people are in alternative provisions, out of school, or on part-time timetables. Your ability to build trust, use behaviour strategies, and provide calm, structured support will be essential to their success.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 tuition in core subjects such as English or Maths, with a trauma-informed approach
- Support pupils in agreed locations (homes, libraries, community spaces) where they feel safe
- Encourage engagement and rebuild confidence through positive reinforcement
- Use behaviour management techniques and emotional regulation strategies
- Set small, achievable goals to help learners gain momentum and routine
We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, PRUs or alternative provision settings
- Strong classroom or behaviour management techniques
- Understanding of how mental health impacts learning and engagement
- Resilient, calm and non-judgmental attitude
- A commitment to relational, student-centred support
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – we can assist)
- Right to work in the UK
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
