A secure children's home in Eccles, Salford is recruiting for a level 3 Teaching Assistant to start in January 2017.
The children's home can accommodate up to 24 young people, who are aged between 10 and 17 years. These are young people who have received a custodial sentence and are placed at this home by the Youth Justice Board. Education is provided onsite.
It is a twenty bed unit managed by the local authority and consists of 3 living units, each having a number of living areas, a small office, and a kitchen. The staff here believe that young people need to be cared for in an environment that promotes their emotional wellbeing including forming positive caring relationships with staff. The Centre achieves this through promoting the principles of Every Child Matters.
The standard of care and services offered have been judged by OFSTED as Outstanding, the first secure care centre to be judged at this level. In 2011 they also achieved the Youth Justice Board’s Innovations Award for their Restorative Justice programme and they have recently been the first secure care centre to gain an Artsmark Gold Award.
The manager is hoping to recruit a level 3 teaching assistant to start in January. You must hold a level 3 teaching assistant qualification and have proven experience of working within in a setting that specialises for young people with social, emotional and mental health challenges.
