SEN Teaching Assistants – Opportunities via Teaching Personnel

A specialist Pupil Referral Unit in Weymouth is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teaching Assistant to join their team.

 

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers and other support staff in providing excellent care and support for pupils ranging in the ages 11-16 years old (KS3 and KS4). Pupils in this school have various SEMH needs, as well as general SEND needs, these can be:

  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Trauma-related needs
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Attachments difficulties
  • Conduct Disorders

The school uses baseline assessments, meetings, and therapeutic approaches to identify and support these needs. It is a Trauma-Informed and Therapeutic Thinking School, meaning staff are trained to understand and respond to the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour.

Their aim is to remove barriers to learning, nurture equality, and prepare students for further education and employment.

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • SEMH experience is essential
  • SEN(D) experience
  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting children
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies

 

Working Hours/Benefits:ouHo

  • Full Time
  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday = 08:30-16:15
  • Thursday = 08:30-16:35
  • Friday = 08:30-16:00
  • Term Time Only
  • 12.07% Holiday Pay
  • Access to free CPD accredited training courses
