SEMH Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with complex needs?
We’re looking for compassionate and resilient TAs to work in one of our SEMH secondary schools in the Warrington area. You will be supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and mental health challenges. These roles are not in mainstream schools—they require a trauma-informed approach, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.
Role Overview:
- Support students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs in a specialist school setting.
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm, professional manner.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress.
- Promote emotional wellbeing and mental health throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support.
- Carry out general TA duties including classroom support, 1:1 intervention, and group work.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✅ Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or mental health needs.
✅ Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
✅ A compassionate, patient and resilient nature.
✅ A proactive approach and ability to work as part of a team.
✅ Safeguarding Training (provided)
✅ Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
✅At least 2 employment references covering the last 2 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
