SEMH Teaching Assistant – Poulton-le-Fylde

Location: Poulton-le-Fylde
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent placement)
Salary: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is working closely with a specialist school in Poulton-le-Fylde to recruit a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team this November. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils who require additional guidance and encouragement to thrive both academically and emotionally.
About the Role:
- Supporting students aged 7–16 with SEMH needs, often with additional diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, or trauma-related behaviours.
- Working 1:1 and in small groups to deliver tailored interventions.
- Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management and lesson engagement.
- Promoting emotional regulation and positive social interactions.
- Collaborating with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
✅ Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH or challenging behaviour (school, residential, or youth work settings).
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is desirable (but not essential – training can be provided).
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
