A welcoming mainstream primary school in Thornton is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils who need help regulating emotions, managing behaviour, and building confidence. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life while developing your own skills in a supportive setting.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Delivering tailored interventions to support emotional literacy, social skills, and behaviour regulation
  • Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times to maintain a calm and structured environment
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement EHCP targets
  • Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches to build trust and resilience
  • Encouraging positive relationships and helping pupils engage with learning

✅ What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience in SEMH support)
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in education, care, or youth settings)
  • A calm, nurturing, and patient approach
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding practices

What You’ll Gain:

  • A long-term role with the potential for permanent placement
  • Competitive daily pay, paid weekly via PAYE
  • Access to free CPD and exclusive training opportunities
