Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We have multiple rewarding opportunities for SEMH Teaching Assistants in Poole, working across a group of highly regarded specialist schools and alternative provisions.

This role is available on a part-time basis with the flexibility to start earlier and transition into full-time. Working hours are 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

A Supportive and Therapeutic Learning Environment

Across these provisions, you'll find an inspiring commitment to nurturing students aged 3 to 19 who may have faced barriers to learning, including trauma, anxiety, ASC, and behavioural challenges. These settings are known for their:

  • Strong focus on emotional wellbeing and personalised learning pathways

  • Calm, structured environments that support behaviour and engagement

  • Low student-to-staff ratios to maximise impact

  • Expert, multidisciplinary teams using therapeutic approaches

  • Creative curriculum models designed to re-engage and empower learners

Whether you’re working with primary children developing emotional literacy or secondary pupils working towards reintegration or qualifications, your role will be both varied and impactful.

Your Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll support individual pupils or small groups with their learning and emotional regulation.

You’ll work closely with teachers, behaviour mentors, and SENCOs to implement strategies that help pupils develop confidence, build trust, and reach their potential — both academically and personally.

  • Weekly pay via PAYE – no hidden fees

  • A personal recruitment consultant with expertise in SEND

  • Free and subsidised CPD including Team Teach, safeguarding and trauma-informed training
