SEMH Teaching Assistant

Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting children and young people who need extra help in school?

Teaching Personnel are working with schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas who are looking for SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their teams.

In this role, you will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or within small groups throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, care, support work, youth work or similar setting
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with pupils
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of behaviour management and the challenges some young people face in education
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people

This role would suit candidates from backgrounds such as support work, youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring, mental health support, childcare or education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
