SEMH Teaching Assistant

A welcoming primary school in Blandford Forum is seeking a committed full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This rewarding role involves working closely with primary-aged pupils who require additional support to manage their emotions and behaviour, enabling them to access the curriculum and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs individually and in small groups

• Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning and emotional support

• Helping pupils develop coping strategies and social skills

• Promoting a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere

• Collaborating with staff to meet individual pupil needs and monitor progress

Person Specification:

• Experience working with children with SEMH or SEN (preferred)

• Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• DBS registered on the Update Service or willing to apply
