SEMH Teaching Assistant – Bentley

Location: Bentley, Hampshire
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing
Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to support schools in Bentley. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning. You will play an important role in helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships, and succeed in the classroom.

You may support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, working alongside teachers and other support staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management

  • Encourage positive engagement with learning activities

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils

  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning resources

  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs (preferred)

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain positive and supportive in challenging situations

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
