Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Southampton that is looking to appoint a full time Learning Support Assistant as soon as possible.

This setting caters for pupils across both its primary and secondary provisions and is known for its strong pastoral approach and supportive staff team. The current requirement is to support primary-aged pupils who have experienced trauma and present with behavioural and emotional needs.

About the Position

This is a hands-on role supporting pupils who require structure, consistency and positive role modelling in order to succeed in school. You will work closely with class teachers and senior staff to help pupils manage behaviour, build resilience and engage with learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support

  • Implementing behaviour support strategies

  • Supporting emotional regulation throughout the school day

  • Promoting a safe and nurturing learning environment

  • Encouraging positive social interactions and routines

The role is full time, Monday to Friday, during term time only.

Candidate Requirements

The school is seeking someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs or trauma backgrounds

  • Is confident, calm and consistent in their approach

  • Can build professional, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Is available full time and ready to start immediately

  • Is looking for a long term opportunity with potential to secure a permanent contract
