Full Time Learning Support Assistant Required
Southampton
Immediate Start | Temp to Permanent Opportunity

A well established and nurturing school in Southampton is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full time basis. The role is to start as soon as possible and will be offered initially through Teaching Personnel, with the opportunity to transfer onto a direct school contract following a successful placement.

This provision supports pupils across both its primary and secondary sites, with the current vacancy focused on working with primary aged pupils who present with trauma-related needs and behavioural challenges.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support in order to access learning. The position will involve:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for pupils with trauma backgrounds

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff

  • Encouraging engagement within the classroom and structured activities

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday during term time.

  • Has experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs

  • Understands trauma informed approaches or has worked within SEMH or alternative settings

  • Is calm, patient and resilient

  • Can commit to a full time role and start immediately

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
