Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEMH school in Brmingham (B30), providing education for students unable to access mainstream education. The school is based in the Birmingham area and they look to recruit Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants with SEMH/Behaviour experience across all Secondary Key Stages. Although the students are not able to access mainstream education, there is a high percentage of the Secondary pupils who are high functioning in both academic and vocational senses.
The school caters for children with complex special educational needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Attachment Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Conditions, which impact on their Social, Emotional and Behavioural responses.
The class sizes are around 6-8 and you will be working alongside other specialist members of staff. There are both day to day and long term roles available.
The successful candidates would have experience with social, emotional and mental health issues and challenging behaviours would posses the correct behaviours in order to support and re-engage SEMH and MLD students within a Primary or Secondary classroom setting. Ideally, you will have additional training, such as Team Teach, but this is not essential as we do run our own CPD courses. Other courses that you will have access to, include NASEN, Safeguarding, Autism Awareness and Moving & Handling.
