SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Full Time
Locations: Bristol, Bath & Gloucestershire
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Daily Pay: £89–£100

Are you looking for a role where you can have a genuine, positive impact on young people’s lives? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate individuals to work as Learning Support Assistants in SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) settings across Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire.

This position involves supporting pupils aged 5–16 who may experience emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs. Your support will help students feel safe, understood and able to engage with their education.

Previous experience is not essential — what matters most is patience, empathy, resilience and a willingness to learn. Full guidance and support will be provided to help you succeed in the role

About the Role
Start Date: ASAP (with work available throughout the academic year)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, term time only

Typical Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (hours may vary slightly depending on the school)

Opportunities: Potential for long-term placements and permanent roles

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
• Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Build positive and consistent relationships that encourage trust and engagement
• Help students develop emotional regulation, social skills and confidence
• Support daily routines, classroom tasks and behaviour strategies

Who We’re Looking For

• Individuals with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people
• Calm, patient and adaptable personalities
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills ️
• Experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not required
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
