SEMH Cover Supervisor
Job description
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join one our specialist SEMH secondary schools in the Rochdale area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes across the curriculum, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning with pre-prepared tasks
- Support students with SEMH needs, using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to help students engage positively with learning.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff to ensure a smooth running of the school day.
- Report back to teaching staff on student progress and any issues arising during cover lessons.
- Uphold the school’s values and promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with young people, ideally in a SEMH or similar setting (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Confidence in managing classroom behaviour and using de-escalation techniques.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the update service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
