Secondary Teaching Assistants – Wirral
Start Date: September 2026
Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent Opportunities
Teaching Personnel are working in close partnership with a number of secondary schools across the Wirral, who are seeking committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support their incoming Year 7 cohort from September 2026.
These roles are based within our trusted partnership schools, where strong relationships, consistent support, and high standards of education are at the heart of everything they do. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a welcoming school community and support students during their transition into secondary education.
The Role
You will be working directly within one of our partnership schools, supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted 1:1 support for students who require additional assistance
- Leading and supporting small group interventions to raise attainment and confidence
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting students with a range of needs, including SEN, social, emotional, and academic challenges
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping students settle into secondary school routines

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working with young people (school-based or transferable experience such as youth work, coaching, or mentoring)
- Are proactive, patient, and adaptable in a classroom setting
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Are passionate about supporting students’ learning and development
- Hold (or are willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service
Working Hours & Pay
- Full-time: Monday to Friday
- Working hours: 6.5-hour school day
- Daily rate: £95 – £105 (dependent on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
