About the Role
Teaching Personnel Liverpool is seeking dedicated Psychology graduates and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in mainstream secondary schools across the Wirral from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, mental health, and supporting young people. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with additional needs such as SEN (Special Educational Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), or behavioural challenges.
Positions are available on a full-time basis, with some flexibility offered depending on school requirements and candidate availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students across KS3 and KS4
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment
- Support pupils with SEN, SEMH needs, or additional learning barriers
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement support plans
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence
- Monitor and report on student progress
- Help adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements:
- A degree in Psychology or proven experience as a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant
- A genuine passion for working with young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Resilience, patience, and adaptability in a school setting
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience supporting SEN or SEMH students
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Previous work in secondary education settings
- Team Teach or similar training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
