Secondary Teacher (Supply) – York
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Pay: £120–£220 per day (depending on experience and subject specialism)
Start Date: ASAP or January 2026
Contract: Full-time, temporary (supply role)
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Secondary Supply Teacher to work across a range of welcoming and supportive secondary schools in York. This full-time, temporary position is ideal for teachers who enjoy variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to make an impact in different school settings.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, maintaining a positive learning environment, and ensuring continuity of learning for students in the absence of their regular teacher.
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects or your specialist area

Manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning atmosphere

Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual learners, including those with SEN

Follow school policies and provide feedback to department leads where required

Build positive relationships with staff and students
Requirements
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
✅ Experience teaching in secondary schools (KS3–KS4)
✅ Experience or interest in supporting students with SEN
✅ Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
