Secondary SEND Learning Support Assistant
Location: North Manchester
Start Date: 23/02/2026 (after February half term)
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Temp to Perm opportunities available)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, Term Time
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary SEND provision to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils aged 11–16 with a range of additional learning needs.
The school provides a structured, nurturing and inclusive learning environment, with small class sizes and a strong focus on personalised support. Pupils attending the provision may present with a combination of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech, language and communication difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, behaviour mentors and therapists, all committed to supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional wellbeing and independence.
The Role Will Involve:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis within the classroom
- Assisting pupils to access the curriculum through adapted and differentiated learning activities
- Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Implementing EHCP targets, learning plans and behaviour support strategies
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break and lunchtime periods
- Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young people with SEND or SEMH needs (school-based or transferable experience welcomed)
- Is calm, patient, resilient and empathetic
- Is confident supporting challenging behaviour using positive strategies
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is proactive, reliable and able to work as part of a team
- Has a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
Previous experience in a secondary school, alternative provision or specialist SEND setting is desirable but not essential — training and ongoing support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
