Are you patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people with special educational needs thrive in secondary education? Looking for your next full-time opportunity?

We are proud to be working in partnership with a large, inclusive secondary school in Bradford, which is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join its SEND unit from September.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students aged 11–16 who have a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play an important role in supporting these students to access learning, develop their confidence and feel included within the wider school community.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to young people’s educational journeys and personal development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual students’ needs and learning styles.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Promote inclusion within the classroom, encouraging participation and building students’ confidence.
  • Help implement support plans, using strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Track and record students’ progress, sharing insights with teaching staff to inform planning and provision.

About you:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school, alternative provision or youth work setting is highly desirable.
  • Patient, empathetic and skilled at building trusting relationships with young people.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Resilient, flexible and proactive in responding to the challenges of a busy secondary environment.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN certificate or youth work) is an advantage but not essential.

Position details:

  • Full-time role starting in September.
  • Based within the SEND unit of a large secondary school in Bradford.
  • Supportive and inclusive staff team, with access to ongoing professional development.
  • Easily accessible via public transport.
