Secondary Science Teacher – Full-Time Maternity Cover | Newport

A Secondary Science Teacher position is available at a well-regarded school in Newport. This is a full-time teaching role starting after the summer break, with the potential for contract extension based on performance. The school welcomes applications from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics specialists, as well as candidates with experience in General Science at KS3 level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach General Science to KS3 students (ages 11-14) in a supportive and engaging classroom environment.

  • Lead intervention groups for students who need additional support, focusing on low-ability pupils or those struggling to stay engaged in mainstream lessons.

  • Strong classroom management skills are essential to manage both mainstream lessons and small intervention groups effectively.

  • NQT applications are welcome, but prior teaching experience in any science subject is preferred.

Role Details:

  • Position Type: Full-time, maternity cover for the academic year.

  • Pay: Minimum £166 per day.

  • Subject Specialism: Open to Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers.

  • Age Group: Pupils aged 11-16.

  • Curriculum: Strong understanding and delivery of the UK Secondary Science curriculum is required.

Requirements:

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
