Secondary School SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEND provision in Sunderland who are seeking a teaching assistant on a full time basis, to commence as soon as possible working with students with with SEND.

The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with pupils aged 11-16 who have SEND including Autism and Downs Syndrome, the students are in need of extra support and guidance throughout their school day. The main aspect of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to monitor children's academic and personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this.

Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with SEND; however the client school welcomes candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND.

Teaching Personnel can offer Teaching Assistant's competitive pay rates of up to £65 per day, this role will be held 5 days per week; for the right candidate longer term rates can be negotiated on your behalf.
