Second in Science – September 2025 Start – Andover Secondary School

Are you a talented and experienced Science Teacher ready to take the next step in your career?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Second in Science position at a forward-thinking secondary school in Andover, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role and a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Science specialist to develop leadership experience and make a meaningful impact on students’ learning.


Why this role?

We’re looking for a dynamic Science Teacher (any subject specialism – Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) with a track record of excellent classroom practice and a drive to inspire young minds. As Second in Science, you’ll support the Head of Department in raising achievement and driving forward high standards across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is the ideal position for a teacher looking to step into middle leadership or to expand their existing leadership portfolio in a collaborative, high-support environment.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support departmental planning, assessment, and curriculum development
  • Contribute to whole-school teaching and learning initiatives
  • Lead and mentor colleagues, including ECTs and trainee teachers
  • Promote and deliver high-quality Science teaching across KS3 and KS4
  • Play an active role in extra-curricular Science activities and trips

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
  • Proven experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4
  • A passion for subject leadership and curriculum innovation
  • Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills
  • Ambition to take on responsibility and drive outcomes forward
