Job description

A mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a full-time Science Technician to join their team from September. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong interest in science and a practical, organised approach to support the delivery of high-quality lessons.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and maintaining equipment for practical work, managing resources, and supporting the science department in ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely. Whether you're an experienced technician or someone looking to move into an educational setting with a scientific background, the school offers a welcoming and supportive environment to develop your skills.

Key Details:

  • Full-time Science Technician role starting September

  • Based at a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth

  • Term-time only position

  • Work closely with science teaching staff to support practical lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials

    • Managing stock levels and ordering resources

    • Ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed

    • Supporting students and staff during practical sessions

  • Ideal for candidates with:

    • Previous lab or school technician experience

    • A strong scientific background (education or industry)

    • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Supportive school environment with a collaborative team culture

  • Excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic and engaging science department

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
