We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and well-resourced specialist setting, teaching students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD and a range of additional learning needs. With smaller class sizes, strong classroom support and access to experienced Teaching Assistants and specialist professionals, you'll have the time and resources to build meaningful relationships and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that make a real impact.

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering creative, engaging and differentiated Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will inspire pupils to develop a love of Science while adapting your teaching to meet individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Working closely with colleagues, pastoral staff and external professionals, you will contribute to creating a positive, nurturing learning environment where students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Differentiate teaching to meet a range of learning abilities and additional needs.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress, setting achievable targets.
• Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes confidence, resilience and independence.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to maximise pupil engagement and progress.
• Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings and parent consultations where required.
• Promote excellent behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about education and committed to helping every learner achieve success.

You will ideally have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Strong subject knowledge across the Science curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A flexible, patient and nurturing approach to teaching.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• Experience within a SEND, SEMH or alternative provision setting is desirable but not essential.
