This large, popular secondary school caters to mixed students aged 11-16 and is consistently oversubscribed. Pupils and staff take pride in their school, fostering a culture of excellence. The school's Science department holds an "Outstanding" rating, with 84% of students achieving 9-4 /A*-C grades in their GCSE Science exams. The Role

Our client school is seeking an ambitious science teacher for a maternity cover position starting as soon as possible and continuing until July 2023. Due to the school's high staff retention, there is potential for the position to become permanent for the right candidate. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging practical and theoretical science lessons up to KS4 to students with mixed abilities. Your responsibilities will include setting homework, grading assignments, monitoring student progress, and participating in parents' evenings to provide feedback to students and their families. The school ideally prefers a teacher with experience teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to KS3 and up to KS4 in their specific subject. They are looking for an inspiring teacher who can motivate students to reach their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about science with excellent subject knowledge
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons
  • Experience teaching one science discipline up to KS4
  • Desirable: Experience teaching all three disciplines to KS3
  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Strong behavior management skills
  • DBS registered on the update service
