Science Teacher

Location: Preston

Contract: Full‑time, Maternity Cover

Start Date: September 2026 or sooner

Salary: From £170 per day (dependant on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and motivated Science Teacher to join a successful and forward‑thinking Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ambitious ECT looking to begin their career in a highly supportive environment.

You will deliver engaging, high‑quality lessons that inspire students, foster a love of scientific learning, and drive strong progress across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The ability to teach a Science specialism at GCSE level (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) is desirable, with flexibility depending on your strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver dynamic, well‑structured Science lessons across KS3–KS4 that engage, challenge, and inspire all learners.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly, offering clear, constructive feedback to support ongoing development.
  • Play an active role in shaping and enhancing the Science curriculum through collaborative planning and resource creation.
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and create a positive, well‑managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Contribute fully to departmental teamwork, taking part in CPD, meetings, and wider school initiatives.
  • Support the academic, social, and personal growth of every student, ensuring they feel valued and encouraged to achieve.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong subject knowledge across the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a combination).
  • High expectations and a commitment to raising attainment.
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • A reflective practitioner committed to ongoing professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
