About the Role
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Coventry is seeking an experienced and committed Resource Base Teacher to join their dedicated team. This role is based within our specialist resource base, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher with a strong background in SEND who is passionate about inclusion and responsive to the evolving national SEND landscape.
Key Responsibilities (Daily Practice)
- Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs, particularly those with SEND
- Lead small-group and individual teaching sessions within the resource base
- Implement, review, and adapt EHCP and Individual Support Plan (ISP) targets in line with pupil progress
- Remain responsive and adaptable to national SEND reforms, including changes outlined in the Every Child Achieving and Thriving implemented by DfE White Paper
- Adjust provision and documentation practices as EHCP and ISP formats evolve
- Use a range of strategies (e.g., visual supports, structured routines, sensory approaches) to support learning and engagement
- Work closely with teaching assistants on a daily basis to direct support and maximise pupil progress
- Facilitate appropriate integration opportunities with mainstream classes
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress daily, adapting teaching accordingly
- Manage behaviour positively using consistent, nurturing approaches
- Liaise regularly with parents/carers, SENCO, and external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists)
- Contribute to reviews and maintain accurate, up-to-date SEND documentation
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEND (essential), ideally within a resource base or specialist provision
- Strong understanding of EHCP processes and inclusive teaching strategies
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes in SEND policy and practice, including reforms to EHCP and ISP frameworks
- Experience supporting children with a range of needs (e.g., ASD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
- Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
Desirable
- Additional SEND qualifications or training
- Familiarity with evolving SEND frameworks and statutory guidance
