  • Remain responsive and adaptable to national SEND reforms, including changes outlined in the Every Child Achieving and Thriving implemented by DfE White Paper
  • Adjust provision and documentation practices as EHCP and ISP formats evolve
  • Use a range of strategies (e.g., visual supports, structured routines, sensory approaches) to support learning and engagement
  • Work closely with teaching assistants on a daily basis to direct support and maximise pupil progress
  • Facilitate appropriate integration opportunities with mainstream classes
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress daily, adapting teaching accordingly
  • Manage behaviour positively using consistent, nurturing approaches
  • Liaise regularly with parents/carers, SENCO, and external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists)
  • Contribute to reviews and maintain accurate, up-to-date SEND documentation

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with pupils with SEND (essential), ideally within a resource base or specialist provision
  • Strong understanding of EHCP processes and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes in SEND policy and practice, including reforms to EHCP and ISP frameworks
  • Experience supporting children with a range of needs (e.g., ASD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • Additional SEND qualifications or training
  • Familiarity with evolving SEND frameworks and statutory guidance

We Offer

  • A supportive and forward-thinking school community in Coventry
  • Strong leadership and an experienced SENCO team
  • Ongoing professional development focused on SEND and national reforms
  • A well-resourced and structured resource base
  • Opportunities to work collaboratively with external specialists
