A Catholic High School in Southport is seeking to appoint a dedicated and fully qualified Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join its committed team from September 2025, on a temporary to permanent basis.

This mixed 11–19 secondary school is a welcoming and inclusive community, rooted in Gospel values and principles. The school is dedicated to preparing young people for the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead. The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential to teach Key Stage 5.

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, compassion, and moral reflection.

  • Uphold and promote the Catholic ethos and values of the school in both curriculum and pastoral roles.

  • Contribute to the spiritual life of the school, including participation in liturgies, assemblies, and other faith-based activities.

  • Support pupils’ academic and personal development, encouraging them to reflect on ethical, spiritual, and social issues.


Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.

  • Have experience teaching Religious Education at secondary level.

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring young people through faith and philosophy.

  • Be fully supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school (practising Catholic preferred, but not essential).

  • Exhibit excellent communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.

  • Be a reflective practitioner with a strong commitment to professional growth.

  • Be a team player who is eager to contribute to the wider life of the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
