Teaching Personnel are currently working with a faith Primary School in Nelson who are in need of a skilled Teaching Assistant to work full time in the Reception class. The Head Teacher has expressed that they are looking for enthusiastic an Early Years Teaching Assistant who has the ability to support children with SEN on a 1:1 basis. There are two children who require extra support due to complex special needs. It is therefore important that you are able to use your existing knowledge and understanding of special educational needs to hit the ground running and impact on learning and behaviour. You will be expected in this role to pass on feedback to parents, class teacher and SENCO and use this to then influence further planning and work.

This is a two form entry, high performing primary school. You must be able to uphold the Christian Ethos in school as the school work in line with the Christian faith, particularly implementing the personalised visions and values. This faith school prides itself on the supportive Senior Leadership Team and there is good parental engagement. They do have a strong and consistent behaviour policy which is used effectively to ensure all the children work to their potential and no disruptive behaviour can affect this. The position is to start as soon as the schools are back in after the school shutdown. The role will be more than likely from May 2020 until April 2021 (end of the financial year). The Head Teacher has commented that they would like strong characters who understand the boundaries between being a friend and being a person of authority, whilst working with the child.

The salary is based on a 6.5 hour position, Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between GBP10-GBP12 per hour.
